Roger Feghali Wins Lebanon Rally for the 18th Time Driving the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2
In what was described as a "battle of nerves," veteran Lebanese rally driver Roger Feghali, alongside his co-driver Joseph Matar the official crew of Toyota Gazoo Racing Lebanon claimed victory in the 47th edition of the Lebanon International Rally. The event was organized by the Automobile and Touring Club of Lebanon (ATCL) under the patronage of President Joseph Aoun. Feghali triumphed behind the wheel of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, a car that proved its superiority in the toughest rallying conditions.

Qatari rally star Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah and his Spanish co-driver Candido Carrera, driving a Škoda Fabia RS, finished second, just 9.2 seconds behind the winner. Elias El-Dahdah and co-driver Nicola Arena came in third in another Škoda Fabia, trailing Feghali by three and a half minutes.
This rally was the fifth and penultimate round of the 2025 Middle East Rally Championship. It spanned a total distance of 624.41 kilometers, with 192.44 kilometers dedicated to timed special stages across 11 competitive sections.
With this win, Roger Feghali secured his 18th Lebanon Rally title—a remarkable feat—after an intense showdown with Al-Attiyah. Feghali capitalized on the strength and stability of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, which features a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine generating over 260 horsepower. Its advanced all-wheel-drive system delivered remarkable grip on the twisty mountain roads that define the Lebanon Rally. Built with rallying in mind, the GR Yaris Rally2’s lightweight structure and rigid chassis offered lightning-fast responsiveness and ideal performance in the rugged terrain.
Feghali launched the competition strongly by winning the opening super stage on Friday at the organizing club’s headquarters in Kaslik, finishing just half a second ahead of Al-Attiyah. However, on Saturday, Al-Attiyah turned the tables and seized the overall lead by seven seconds. The real drama unfolded on Sunday, during the final four stages in the regions of Northern Metn and Baabda.
Although Feghali experienced an electrical issue on the second day—costing him around 20 seconds—he showed resilience and determination to mount a comeback on the final day. By the end of stage ten, he had reclaimed the lead by just 1.5 seconds. The rally then headed into the final, decisive “title stage” in Zabbougha. There, Feghali clinched the win in a thrilling finale, earning his historic 18th Lebanon Rally title in a spectacular display of skill and composure.
The triumph was not just a result of experience, but also a testament to the perfect harmony between driver, machine, and technical team. With the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2—a car engineered with the spirit of rallying in its DNA—Feghali and his Motortune team formed a formidable pairing, turning intense competition into yet another victory. His performance reaffirmed his legacy as a dominant figure in the region’s rallying scene, behind the wheel of a car built to conquer.
