Japan through Lebanese Eyes

In collaboration with "Lebajica", the Lebanese-Japanese Cultural and Business Leaders' Association organized a contest for "Best Painting", under the theme of "Japan In The Eyes Of The Lebanese". Students, aged 12 to 14, coming from various public and private schools took part in the competition, expressing their different views about Japanese culture through drawings that stunned the audience.<br />

 The Awards' Ceremony took place at the auditorium of St-Joseph University, in the presence of Japanese Ambassador in Lebanon his Excellency Mr. Murakami, President of the Lebanese-Japanese Cultural and Business Leaders' Association and CEO of BUMC (Exclusive Distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Lebanon) Dr. Fred Boustany, Vice-President Mrs.Eugenie Hosri, Artist Georgette Gebara, Interior Architect Carole Sfeir, the Association's Administrative Board, and Lebajica's President Mr.Antoine Ghorayeb. All winners won valuable prizes: Miriam Kassouf -12 years- in the 3D Paintings' category; Elie Samyoun -14 years- in the Aquarelle category; Sarah Miski -11 years- in the Colored Drawings' category; and Yara Abdallah -11 years- in the Pencil Drawings' category. The ceremony was marked by a magnificent show, at the crossroads of Lebanese and Japanese cultures, including the Lebanese traditional art of storytelling "Hakawati" presented by Mrs. Joelle Bacha, the Japanese flower art -Ikebana- by Mrs. Caline Haladjian, and last but not least Karate performances by Hachem Makki and his "Shinkyokushin Karate" team. The show was followed by a distinguished cocktail reception.
