The initial Hilux has a passenger capacity of three passengers and a payload capacity of 1,000 kg and a cargo bed that was 1,850 mm long.

The second generation Hilux was launched on May 1952. Although the cargo and payload capacity remained unchanged - both long and short wheelbase version improved the predecessor's mechanical components. In addition, a highway model fitted with a 2.0-liter model was introduced for freeway or express driving.

The fourth-generation Hilux was released in November 1983. All the four-wheel drive models came with a new body, characterized by their blister fenders in the front and rear.

The fifth-generation Hilux that came out in September 1988 represented the three basic concepts: power, sturdiness and comfort. To enhance its functionality as a multi-purpose vehicle, the interior was further upgraded. The body featured pressed doors with integrated window sashes.
