Provides Complimentary Health Annual Checkups to BUMC Staff
Lebanon's once esteemed health care system has become an unfortunate casualty of the socio-economic situation and the COVID-19 pandemic. With Lebanon’s healthcare system and hospitals soon reaching a breaking point - BUMC s.a.l. stepped in to care for employees' health and take preventive measures to safeguard their health. The Head of the Emergency Services at Gettawi hospital - Dr. Dany Raad visited BUMC to provide a complimentary to all BUMC staff, assess any risks and provide healthcare directive care.

Lebanon’s healthcare has been deeply affected by the multiple crises that have left the country in a difficult position between a financial & economic downward spiral, government failure amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The collapse has been especially steep considering that Lebanon was once considered the region’s top healthcare system in the region. According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), more than 70% of the Lebanese people live below the poverty line. Also, 82% of the population has limited access to health, public services and education. Lebanon’s health system is predominantly private, with more than 80% of the country’s health budget directed toward private institutions. However, these hospitals have been shutting down because of a lack of resources, or turning away patients who cannot afford to pay.
Toyota Motor Corporation is committed to the United Nations seventeen goals for a better society. One of such goals is the third one, Good Health and Well-Being. Following the example of its mother company, BUMC s.a.l. has been ensuring the good health and safety of its employees. The good physical and mental health of employees has been the driving force behind BUMC s.a.l.’s success and therefore, it has because the aim to safeguard their health during these difficult times. Over the span of a few weeks – employees took one-on-one appointments with Dr. Dany Raad to discuss his/her health cases, family risks as well as preventive measures to guard their health.
Going forward – BUMC will continue to take these preventive measures to safeguard employees’ health through these ongoing crises.
