GT86 Drift Competition

BUMC, the exclusive distributor for Toyota and Lexus in Lebanon, held its first GT86 Drift Competition on October 6th 2013 at Pitstop Circuit in Zouk. Seventeen members of the BUMC Sports division, GT86 Club competed to win an all expense paid trip to Yas Marina Circuit to attend the Yas Drift School. All participants showed tremendous talent and true passion for their GT86s. The daylong event began at Zalka showroom at 8AM where participants were treated to a complimentary breakfast and quick briefing. After the breakfast, all GT86’s drove in a convoy to Pitstop Circuit in Zouk where the competition took place followed by a lunch BBQ. To demonstrate the full potential of the GT86 and proper drifting techniques, BUMC invited 2013 Red Bull Car Park Drift Champion Jad Himo who drifted in a GT86 equipped with TRD parts.Although all participants showed some serious skills, there were three winners. 3rd place was awarded to Jad Naamani followed by 2nd place winner Pierre Rizkallah Maalouf. 1st place was awarded to Jean Paul Maalouf who had two perfect runs displaying skill and confidence behind his GT86. Originally, BUMC had planned to only send one winner to Yas Marina Circuit; however, due to the three top winners’ talent and great drifting all three will be sent to Yas Marina Circuit. The top three winners were also given special prizes from Michelin and all GT86 Club members were given a free oil change from Total. The top three weren’t the only winners; three female participants were each awarded $250 for participating and representing the female community of GT86 drivers.
