Known for its rich history, traditional architecture, and distinctive cultural heritage, Deir El Qamar is one of Lebanon’s most iconic historic towns and an important landmark in the Chouf region. Preserving the cleanliness and character of such communities is essential not only for residents and visitors, but also for safeguarding Lebanon’s cultural and environmental heritage for future generations.


A team of 22 BUMC employees and volunteers joined efforts to clean public streets and surrounding areas across Deir El Qamar, including the cleaning and restoration of a heritage staircase. Through their collective efforts, the team collected and removed approximately 750 kilograms of litter and accumulated waste, helping create cleaner, healthier, and more welcoming public spaces while contributing to the preservation of the town’s historic character.


The Deir El Qamar initiative forms part of BUMC’s broader year-round environmental engagement, through which cleanup activities have also been carried out in other regions across Lebanon throughout the year. By extending these efforts to different communities, BUMC aims to encourage greater environmental awareness, employee participation, and collective responsibility toward the preservation of public spaces.


The initiative also reflects the values shared by BUMC and Toyota, particularly the importance of respect for people, responsibility toward the communities in which we operate, and continuous efforts to reduce environmental impact. Beyond providing mobility solutions, Toyota’s philosophy encourages positive contributions to society and the pursuit of a more sustainable future.


As Toyota’s only authorized distributor in Lebanon, BUMC continues to translate these principles into meaningful local action by supporting initiatives that bring employees, communities, and stakeholders together around shared environmental and social objectives.


The campaign forms part of BUMC’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption, environmental protection, and climate action.
